Oh, My-er Mistake! Fashion giant Myer disappoints the Australian fashion world by not bringing anything new for men this season.

It was a full house at Myer’s VIP fashion show tonight where the retail chain showcased its Autumn Winter 2013 collection in Melbourne.

Supermodel and Myer ambassador Jennifer Hawkins opened the show, titled ‘The Edit,’ followed by fellow ambassador Kris Smith.

While ‘less was best’ for women, it was not the case for the men.
Smith looked sexy, cosy, and very warm in his outfits but that’s where it stopped.

As good as the clothes looked on the former footballer, Myer’s season collection brought nothing new for the men of today.

He wore an outfit by ‘R&G’ which included a black beanie, red v-neck t-shirt, skinny blue jeans, a patterned grey scarf and an open, high collar, grey trench coat.
His ‘Blaq’ outfit included slim fit, salmon coloured jeans, a patterned blue scarf and a dark, gun metal grey, buttoned up trench coat.

It’s more of the same styles displayed on runways in previous years, only this time with different models and different button placements.

While the price tag might be the biggest turn off yet:

• The blue Calvin Klein body fit jeans from Myer costs $180 dollars.
• The white printed Calvin Klein t-shirt is priced at $60 dollars from Myer.
• While Smith’s black and white, long sleeve, chequered shirt will set you back $119.95 dollars from the retailer.

Despair not! If you would like to stick to these trends which are making a comeback, they can be found at other less expensive clothing stores:

• Similar jeans at ‘Yd.’, like the Gil blue skinny jeans or the Utah blue slim jeans, will only cost you $109.95.
• ‘Yd.’ sells a plain, dark red, v-neck t-shirt (just like in Smith’s outfit by R&G) for $30 dollars or two for $50.
• ‘The Iconic’ online store has Smith’s black and white, chequered, long sleeve shirt for only $40 dollars.

‘Yd.’ has many of the same trends at more affordable prices, plus heaps of new clothes, and new styles.

‘Musstard.com.au’ and ‘Yd.’ are the only websites to have their own Winter Autumn 2013 collections. Both sites also have looks for all seasons including current and upcoming trends and styles.

However, there is one design you could not go past tonight and that was the smart suit by Arthur Galan (pictured below).

A black, suede jacket, white patterned shirt, grey jeans, black shiny leather shoes, and a red bow tie, flattered Smith and gave him a smart and sexy look.

It was the best outfit of the night.

But if you’re Kris Smith, you can make anything look good.

Smith’s new girlfriend Maddy King watched as her man strut his stuff.

“It’s still pretty new (the relationship), but it’s really nice,” he said.

The couple have been dating for only six months.

Myer’s most famous male model helped showcase some of the 150 ‘new’ looks of the season.

Designers included Karen Walker, Jayson Brunsdon and Nicola Finetti.

‘Yd.’s’, ‘Musstard’s’ and Myer’s season collections are available in store and online now.
